A Safer, Stronger Community
As a United Way agency for over 50 years, the Carrie Steele - Pitts Home is committed to improving the quality of life for children and families in our city. United Way donors have voiced their interest in supporting initiatives that make metro Atlanta safer and stronger -and with the addition of our Life Learning Center, we will be even better equipped to meet the community's needs.

Because our west Atlanta neighborhood does not have a facility such as a YMCA or Boys and Girls Club, we have opened the new Life Learning Center facility to children and adolescents in the surrounding community. We welcome the opportunity to provide this type of constructive after school programming in a safe place for children. The Carrie Steele - Pitts Home has always been community-minded, and this project has allowed us to make an even bigger difference in the lives of our young people.

An Investment in the Future
Throughout our history, the Carrie Steele - Pitts Home has practiced sound financial management and operated within our means. Our Fairburn Road campus has been well maintained over the years, and because we made efficient use of our space, there was little need for capital improvements. However, our facility was recently upgraded with the building of the Life Learning Center, to ensure our future success. It was time to take a significant step toward enhancing our campus and the lives of our children.

"The Carrie Steele - Pitts Home is the least 'institutional' institution that I know. During the United Way campaign, we never have anyone visit Carrie Steele - Pitts Home who doesn't come back a different person."

President, United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta
